LA BASTIDE SAINT VINCENT is a family estate since the 18th century. Our vineyard of nearly 22 hectares is composed of many small parcels scattered in 6 different villages, which enables us to produce a whole range of wines from the Southern Rhône Valley : Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône (red and rosé) and Vin de Pays de Vaucluse for a total production of 75.000 to 100.000 bottles yearly.
Our Gigondas vines are located on 3 different soils : the main parcel - subdivided into 10 small parcels - is situated on steep mountainsides from the south side of the “Dentelles de Montmirail”, the two others are on the heights of the village and on the middle alluvial terraces.
Over the 8 parcels of our Vacqueyras vines, 6 are situated in different parts of “Les Garrigues”, a plateau covered with pebbles between Sarrians and Vacqueyras.
The vines are 35 years old on average, but many parcels have been planted for 50 years : the production by hectare is therefore low, which favours the quality of our wines. The grenache variety prevails, complemented with mourvèdre and syrah.
The hand-made grape harvest allows us a strict selection of the grapes, which are then destalked and slightly crushed. The traditional winemaking takes place in enamelled concrete tanks. The fermentation on the skins varies from 5 days to 3 weeks, depending on the wines, on the varieties and on the vintage.
All our wines mature afterwards in enamelled concrete or steel tanks, while our Gigondas “Costevieille”, special reserve stemming from a selection of plots, ages partially in French oak barrels of 228 litres.
Our wines are regularly rewarded in the most representative competitions (Paris, Mâcon, Orange, Vinalies) as well as in the Guide Hachette. About
70 % of our production is exported in 10 different countries.
